Getting Around:

Special parking is available at all four theme parks. From the Transportation and Ticket Center the Magic Kingdom is accessible by ferry or by monorail. If using a wheelchair, going on the Monorail might be difficult, as it has a steep ramp. All WDW monorail stations are accessible to wheelchairs except at the Contemporary resort. Valet parking is available for FREE at Downtown Disney to all those with disabilities.

Wheelchairs can be rented for $5 a day, with a $1 refundable deposit. At the Magic Kingdom wheelchair rentals are available at the Stroller and Wheelchair rental just inside the turnstiles, to the right. Epcot's rental area is just inside the turnstiles on the left. At Disney MGM Studios they also have wheelchair rentals right inside the entrance. At Animal Kingdom, wheelchairs are available at Garden Gate Gifts near the Oasis. Electric Wheelchairs (ECVs) are also available for rent in every park. They cost $30 a day, with a $10 refundable deposit. My mother-in-law rented one and had a ball driving it around. Although they are hard to control in tight spaces, if the person utilizing the wheelchair isn't very coordinated, the ECV might not be the best choice. We got run into a few times by Grandma! And I hear they usually sell out early each day. There are designated areas for guests in wheelchairs to view the fireworks at Epcot, and to view the parades in the Magic Kingdom and the Disney-MGM Studios. Check park maps for locations.

Accessibility:

It is easy to get around the theme parks by wheelchair. Most attractions are accessible to guests who can be lifted from their chairs with assistance from a member of their party, and many can accommodate those who must stay in their chairs at all times.

All WDW hotels have accommodations for guests with disabilities, including roll-in showers. As for Special Requests Department when you call Central Reservations - 407-934-7639

Resources:

Guests with visual disabilities can rent a tape recorder and a cassette that describes each theme park, as well as a Braille guidebook. Each requires a $25 refundable deposit. Service animals are permitted in all the parks. Guests who use Text Typewriters (TTYs) can call 827-5141 for WDW information. TTYs are available free of charge at City Hall in the Magic Kingdom, Guest Relations at Epcot, Disney MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom, and at Guest Services at Downtown Disney and at all resorts. Sign language interpretation is available for select shows.

Listening devices that amplify attraction soundracks are available at City Hall in the Magic Kingdom and at Guest Relations at Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MGM Studios. A $25 refundable deposit is required.

Inquire about the availability of reflective and video capturing devices, which project show dialogue onto panels positioned in front of the guest or activate captioning on video monitors. The park guidemaps will indicate which attractions these devices can be used. Written transcripts are also available at Guest Relations and at each show and attraction for use by guests with hearing disabilities.
