Comment : The grilled cheese sandwhiches are good. The service was fast and efficient. Nothing too special, but still a pretty nice place to eat. We went at around 6:00, when all of the restaurants are full of people looking for dinner. Despite the dinner crowd, we were served quickly.

Comment : We ate an early lunch, so the crowd was light.  They have a limited menu, but what we had for lunch was quite good taking into consideration this is fast food.  My husband and I both had the roast beef with tomato salad (came with).  We thought the food hot and good.  The salad was a nice treat, a good break from fries and VERY ripe and fresh.  The sit down area is huge and nicely carpeted, air conditioned and comfortable - except for the VERY loud TV's everywhere showing promos for TV shows-I thought tacky.  I would go back again for a nice quick lunch and to get out of the heat of the day.

Comment : For fast food counter service - this place is not bad.  They had different types of dishes to choose from - not your typical burger and fries selection.
We were there over the Christmas holidays - so went later in the day to avoid crowds.  Had the same selection of foods at the same prices as for lunch
The South American chilli was good.  For a quick bite to eat - I would recommend this place.

Comment : The service was tremendous and the atmosphere was elegant and cozy. I really enjoyed the Cobb salad. For those of you who think you know what a Cobb salad is you have no idea until you have one at the Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant!! Also if you have dinner here after 6:30pm, you can get reserved seating to Fantasmic which starts at 9:30pm so be aware of that perk!!

Comment : The Brown Derby was an elegant retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Disney-MGM Studios. After two trips on the Tower of Terror, it was nice to sit down to a beautifully prepared lunch. My husband and I had the famed Cobb salad and it was delicious! It's probably a bit too formal for kids. We enjoyed it!

Comment : This is my absoulte favorite restuarant at WDW. On my most recent vacation, 10/29 thru 11/7 of this year, I was lucky enough to eat there on three occasions. Each server, Andy, Rod H. and Larry was amazing. It is a relaxing place to unwind after a day in the park and to get great food. Try the Cobb salad, it is the best! Also, check on the Fantasmic dinner package, it is nice to have reserved seating and not have to claim a good viewing seat an hour prior to show time.

Comment : We visited this restaurant last year for lunch - yummy.  This year, we enjoyed dinner here.  The food was good, but it just wasn't the same.  The waitress acted as if she was working in an adult only restaurant and had little tolerance for kids - we have four - they behave, but they're little people - oh well.  Next time, we'll do lunch here, instead.

Comment : I have one very large complaint about this restaurant, which will keep us from going back. My 4 year old's portion was larger than my $15 lunch portion. If I hadn't eaten dessert, I would have left there hungry. I am 5'6'' and weigh 125lbs more or less, not to mention this was the most expensive meal we ate on sight, and that was terribly dissapointing. The food was very tasty, though, so if you have a lot of money and not a big appetite, then this restaurant might be for you.

Comment : The best service in the parks.  We were running late to the Phantasmic and our waiter called over and told them we were running late.  He even let us out the side door so it would be quicker.  He had good suggestions for dinner and desert and was knowledgable about the history of the Brown Derby.

Comment : While the food was good, the selection was quite poor.  For lunch, many of the entrees were better suited for dinner and there really wasn't much of a selection at all.  Even the menus were quite tacky because they were just on a piece of paper that was obviously reused from other customers because of the water and coffee stains on it.  We did come here last year and there was a much better selection for lunch which is what we were looking forward to.  So unfortunately we just had to settle for a bowl of soup for my wife and a cobb salad for me.  Both were good but I just wish they had a better selection.

Comment : The Brown Derby is clean and shiny (subdued lighting with lots of dark wood and brass) and maintains some feel of the real Brown Derby of Hollywood, with one exception: the caricatures on the walls are repeated (if you look closely, you'll see two or more replicas of the same celebrity).  The highlight was definitely the Cobb salad, an exceptional tasting and interestingly prepared dish also true to the orginal (greens and toppings are very finely diced and then tossed with a delicious dressing at your table).  The bread was great; our waitress kept bringing more baskets of it back (and the family kept eating it)!  Not as good a place for children, who might get bored by the sophisticated atmosphere and comparatively ritzy menu offerings-but a great place for adults!

Comment : We ate brunch at Hollywood and Vine. We were one of about 5 families in the whole place. We had our waitress, Harriett all to ourselves. She immediately brought our drinks out and made sure we were aware of all the offerings. My son wasn't feeling well, and she was so sweet to him. He didn't want to eat, so she had Pluto come over and sit with him. It was very cute, Pluto brought him a bowl of jello, which he did eat. The rest of us enjoyed the brunch layout of food. IT was mostly breakfast foods; scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast - chocolate french toast, pancakes, hash browns, fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese and lox, muffins... Plenty to choose from. We enjoyed the entertainment as the characters would dance around with the waiters and waitresses. The kids would get up and dance, too. We all enjoyed this restaurant quite a bit.

Comment : I chose Mama Melrose's because it seemed to have the biggest selection for a healthy vegetarian. In retrospect, I should have gone back to the stand where I got a baked potato and pretzel for lunch! The service was slow (we got our bread AFTER we finished our meals...?) and the prices ridiculous. I paid 14 dollars for a small so-so pizza. My husband had a good linguine fra diavlo, but the portion was small and for 17 dollars, was not worth it. I was still hungry after my little pizza, but was afraid to pay for dessert. Overall a bad experience.

Comment : We had a great meal here, just back from vacation. March 27,2000. We did the 7:30pm Fantasmic Dinner Package. (actually ate at 540pm) 2 adults and 2 children. I had pasta with a creamy tomato sauce and peas/ham in it. Wonderful! Husband had steak over a different kind of pasta with peppers/tomatos/onions grilled. kids had mickey shaped pizza. This was a recommended eating place of many boars, and I am glad we choose to eat here....

Comment : I love the 4 Cheese Pizza at Mama Melrose- it has a fabulous taste, and the crust is just perfect! My husband and I split the 4 cheese pizza-it is a perfect size for 2 adults to share. We also split an order of the Crispy Calamari-very tender. The dipping sauce that comes with it  is citrus and spicy tomato-spicy and unusual, but very tasty-$5.95. I had the Mixed field greens with feta cheese and balsalmic vinigrette--Delicious. The greens were very tender baby greens, and the vinigarette was perfect-$3.50. My daughter got the child's Spaghetti and tomato sauce which included the beverage for $4.99. It was a large portion, but she cleaned her plate and declared it "the best spaghetti I ever had!" There is a full service bar with a nice selection of wines--the house speciality was the Sangria, which can be ordered by the glass-$3.75,the 1/2 carafe-$8.50, or the full carafe-$16.50. My parents and brother had that and said it was delicious. Italian beer is also featured on the menu as well as several house specialty mixed drinks-the one tried at our table was the Malibu Breeze--wonderful. All house specialty drinks are $6.25. The service was friendly and efficient, even though our waiter was training someone that night. We will definitely return!

Prime Time Cafe

Comment : The service was so terrible our server knew we wouldn't appreciate the usual fun "treatment". We were one of the first seated in our area and we were the last to receive our food - a 45 minute wait is ridiculous when you're the first to order...maybe our server went out to lunch. We didn't even have a complicated order - 2 hamburgers, 2 fried chickens, and 1 pork chop dinner. They brought 2 wrong things when we were finally served and then we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the correct food to arrive! My pork chops were not quite done along the bone. The potatoes were good. But the bad service really spoiled the experience - we are early babyboomers and enjoyed the atmosphere - or would have! Also thought, while the kidding around was cute, it got a little out of hand - saw quite a few people being overly ridiculed and extremely embarrassed and forced to eat their beans - would have been okay if they didn't take the ribbing to the extremes they did that day!

Comment : This place is great! You walk in and its like you are walking into a huge living room! They take your name and write it on a chalkboard. Then you sit in the den and wait for MOM to call you to dinner. They really do CALL you - it was funny! Then Uncle Glenn came over and took us to our table. Toldus not to touch the things on the shelves, and not to put our elbows on the table and the rest of MOM's rules! He made our Dad set the table, which he couldnt really handle! The kids helped. Then he told us the blue plate special and let us make up our minds. They bring out the food on those old plasticy plates, it was a fun experience. I was not alive in the 50s but I can imagine this is how it was. The decor reminded me of my grandma's house when I was small. The food was good, and the service was, too. They had many fun touches that they added. We enjoyed this meal quite a bit. The kids get little souvenir cups to take with them.

Comment : As with other WDW restaurants, you're paying for the "show" here - not the food. We had read up on the Prime Time and knew what the theme was. We played our part as the "kids" but our waiter wasn't quite up to his part as the stern "uncle". Take that away and you're left with $14 chicken pot pie. A counter-service sandwich would have been just as good, not to mention much cheaper and faster.

Comment : Waiting to eat was half as fun as when we were seated.  The waiting room looks like a family room out of the 1950's - we were able to watch old tv shows while we waited and our kids got a kick out of all of the surroundings.  Once we were seated - in a 50's style kitchen our "mother waitress" kept us in line by making sure we didn't put our elbows on the tables and making sure we said thank-you and ate all of our meal.  The portions were huge and can surely satisfy any appetite.  Milkshakes are large enough for two to share.  I would highly recommend going here to either lunch or dinner.  Before we went into the park that morning, we called from out hotel and made priority seating arrangements which worked out great.

Comment : This was our first visit to this restaurant and our family had alot of fun here.  "Dad" our server, was great.  As long as you get into the spirit of what may happen to you, it can be tons of fun.  I ratted on my daughter for not eating her vegetables, and "Dad" made her eat some, but then I got in trouble for being a tattletale!  It was a riot.  Besides that, the food was delicious.  Our girls had chocolate shakes that werer straight out of the 50's and the meatloaf and fried chicken are delicious.  We would definitely eat here again.

Comment : When I first went I did not know what to expect. I was in for a surprise. When you first enter it looks just like a real fifties living room. You are seated at the old plastic like fifties tables. The waiter introduced us to everyone around us and said that they were our cousins. He said that he was our uncle. There was a basket filled with silverwear in the middle of the table and as we sat down and he said "Does this look like a center piece" and he made us set the table. When we ordered he made us say please. He made my uncle wear a bib with the little mermaid on it. When the table next to us left he made us wave goodbye. He gave us names. Mine was princess and my cousins were scooter and sparky. When the food came out it was a plate full. He said it came from mamma's kitchen. He makes you eat your vegetables. He made my mom eat her beans luckly my uncle ate my beans. He tells you to eat all food so we won't hurt mamma's feelings. The food was excellent including the milkshakes. They were homemade and to die for. The experience was fun and I would definitely go back. I would recommend it to everyone. Tip: Get reservations in advance because it can become crowded. My whole family loved it. It was like a trip back in time.

Comment : Our Waiter, cousin Vinny, made the whole experience really special. He made sure everyone at the table was having a good time and didn't leave any of us feeling left out of the fun. Our food was very good, the fried chicken was especially tasty. We enjoyed it so much we returned later in our vacation to have lunch. Our waitress, Aunt Jenny, was also a lot of fun. We are going back December 1,2000 and plan having a dinner there again. We are looking foward to it.

Comment : I loved it hear. it was a very good meal. I had a strawberry milkshake. I suggest it highly. I also had the best meatloaf in the world. Also a must is the s'mores dessert. Our party of 4. Loved it. I put my elbows on the table so mom made me set up a table in the section. I loved it. She gave me a mommy nickname. She called me Angie. I really thought it was a bad name but I played along. Another person in my party wasn't aloud to have dessert till she finished her meal but she said she needed more vegetables anyway. When i was drinking my milkshake. I slurped at the end and had to set up two more tables but my fiance was kind and did them for me. I loved here will come back. it is an attraction in itself.

Comment : Fun restaurant.  The decor sure brings back memories!  Food was fine...a bit pricey for what we got, but the shakes were wonderful!  "Mom" and "Grandma" were in the back cooking and we were reminded to keep elbows off the table and clean our plate.  You get a "Clean Plate Club" sticker for cleaning your plate...and no hiding your food under something...they will check!  You are asked to refer to everyone in your area as your "cousins" and you are greeted as you arrive and leave by these cousins.  A bit pricey, but a nice experience overall.  Our waitress had little "pet names" for each of us and referred to those names the entire time.  The kids enjoyed it, especially when mom and dad got in "trouble" for something.

Comment : From the second you walk in the door you are put in a fiftie's sitcom!  The staff treat you like family, and even ask you to call them "cousin so-and-so" while "mom" is cooking in the kitchen.  They come and sit down and ask you about your meal.  Actually, the last time I was there, the waiter actually tricked a man into admitting he hadn't washed his hands in the bathroom before dinner!  They truly make you feel at home and even offer the kind of food which you would eat at home which I considered a nice break from the fries and hamburgers I ate for most of the trip.  It's air conditioned which was a relief and the food is great!  I had the mac&cheese and a chocolate ice cream soda which I have been addicted to ever since!  A great, fun place to eat; however, it may not be right for everyone.  However, who in Disney World isn't looking to have fun?!

Comment : The meals are typical Disney food, like burgers, chicken, and salad. However, they have really cool names like "It Grows Among Us" or "They Called it Seafood". The drive-in movie theme is a great idea. Guests watch old "B" movies while they dine.

Comment : Our daughter is four and she loved sitting in the "car" to eat. This restaurant has a lively atmosphere. The menu did not have a wide selection but the portions were more then plenty. I could not eat all the taco salad. My daughter had spaghetti and a sundae with sprinkles because she did not want a cupcake which they usually serve with kid's meals. Our waiter was helpful, very quick, and got our shy daughter to laugh. Visit this restaurant for the experience, not necessarily the food.

Comment : This would be a nice place if it was just for getting milshakes(which were delicious!!) But the food wasn't very good and my hamburger bun was stale! Our waiter was nice, but he was almost anoying because he wouldn't stop repeating the lines word for word as they were being said on the screen!! And the dash of your car was really dimmly lit and we could barely see our meals!! But if your just in the mood for some good drinks and to take a load off for a few minutes this is a good place for that!!

Comment : It is cool, dark and generally quiter than most places. We have heard alot of people say that the food was not good here. I had a Chef Salad that was really good while my husband had a hamburger. He said that is was to be described as "great" but still tasty nonetheless. The atmosphere was very neat and if you can get a car (table) to yourself then it will most likely be enjoyed even more. Try it at least once and make your own decision.

Food : Has this been sitting out all day?
Comment : This restaurant should be treated as an attraction, not a place to get a good meal. You sit in cars, and they show some fun film clips, but the food is mediocre and overpriced. Also, the clips aren't long enough to have a whole meal. If it wasn't for the asmosphere, I would never dine here. This is a great place to have a snack or dessert in the hot afternoon. But don't stray from the dessert menu!

Comment : MAYBE WE WENT ON A BAD DAY. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE OTHER REVIEWS SAYING WONDERFUL FOOD. THE PLACE ITSELF IS WONDERFUL BUT THE FOOD IS NOT. OVERPRICED FOR QUALITY. MY 4 YEAR OLD REFUSED TO EAT AFTER THE FIRST BITE. I AGREE THAT ITS A GOOD PLACE FOR A SNACK AND WILL DO THAT ON NEXT VISIT.

Comment : What can I say, the atmosphere is great. Sitting in the cute cars, acting like you are at a drive in is very fun. The waiter we had was really great, too. But the food left a lot to be desired. It was cold. Have you ever had cold french fries well they arent very good. We had to send all our food back to get 'fresh' food. Our waiter was great about it. The shakes are wonderful, so if you go, make sure to get a shake. Actually a good idea is to go to Sci-Fi for an afternoon snack, skip the meals there. Get some fresh fries and a shake! They play movies, usually the same one over and over which can get annoying, so the time it takes to have a snack might be the best ticket!
