Packing List

Thanks to Sara for sending me this list & thanks to everyone who has contributed to it!

Some things to pack for your trip:
Address labels - fill out the address labels at home, so you just have to stick them on a postcard and add a stamp (bring stamps from home too).

Aloe Vera Gel - too much sun is hard on the skin, aloe vera gel can soothe your skin before bedtime

Antacids overeating can cause some pretty bad tummy aches.

Antibacterial Soap - bring a small container. No water needed to get some of the germs off your hands!

Aspirin and any other medications you would normally take.

Autograph book  if you plan on getting character autographs. You can get them much cheaper at home.

Backpack - good idea for each member of your party to have their own backpack to carry around their own small snacks, small toys for kids (to play while in line or waiting for parades). If one person carries everything it gets very heavy!

Band-Aids & Instant Ice pack - you never know what small injury you will need to treat.

Bathing suit - bring a couple. Even if you don't think you will be going into the pool, you may change your mind. There are nice jacuzzis at most resorts, too. They feel wonderful after a day of walking around.

Batteries - for still and video cameras (though the camera shops in the parks can usually sell you some :)

Books and magazines - Long plane rides can seem a lot shorter with a good book or magazine. Also nice for reading while laying out by the pool

Bottled Water - It is probably too heavy to bring from home. Stop at a grocery store and stock up - the water in Florida tastes horrible.

Disposable Camera - great for kids to take their own pictures & a water proof one is great for visits to the water parks.

Confirmation Numbers - Bring a list of all confirmation numbers, for your flight, hotel, any priority reservations, the rental car, etc.

Contact lenses - bring an extra set, and all your cleaning supplies!

Double the amount of socks - just putting on a nice fresh pair of socks for the afternoon of walking really helps freshen your feet. Socks were the one thing we always run out of before laundry day at Disney World.

Fanny pack for each of you, or backpacks.

Film - bring more than you think you will need! It is quite expensive there!

First Aid Kit - small kit found at most drug stores, which contain the necessities for small injuries, cuts, scrapes, etc. Would have come in handy when my son fell off a small wall he was climbing on and scraped his knee all up. We had to carry a bleeding, screaming son half way across the park to the first aid bldg. thanks Terri

Flashlight - Some of the resort walkways are dark at night, so its nice to have a flashlight for those late night walks to fill up your mugs!

Floaties for young swimmers. You will be able to use the ones that go on the childs arm, but usually not the innertube kinds. If your child uses the floaties at home, by all means bring them.

Glasses - if you wear glasses, make sure to bring an extra pair, just in case!

Guidebooks - Don't forget your guidebooks and any notes that you have taken!

Gum - Disney does not sell GUM!

Handheld video games - great for the kids while waiting in lines, waiting for parades, and that long plane trip. Bring plenty of batteries, too!

Hats - You will need hats - keep your head cool!

Kleenex - small individual packets of kleenex are great to have for in your backpack

Laundry Detergent - pack individual ziplock baggies with premeasured detergent inside - and also bring dryer sheets. Really saves you some money!

Lip Balm - out in the air all day is hard on tender lips

Misty Mate - the small water bottles with battery operated fans on top. During the summer these will be lifesavers! That cool mist really helps take the edge off the heat!

Moleskin and bandaids for blisters

Nail Clippers. My son had a tear in one of his toenails and we had a hard time getting it smooth. Wish we had brought our clippers!

Night Lights - We just buy some cheapo night lights for in the hotel room. It is better than keeping the bathroom light on all night long. We just left them there when we check out.

Notebook of some sort, to write notes in, or to let the kids draw in.

Notecards One card for each day. Put on all important reservations times and confirmations numbers, and notes about what you want to do that day. You think you will remember it all, but you wont. Just throw the card in your backpack and you are set.  -thanks Terri

Pager -if you depend on a pager, make sure to bring it. But verify that you have nationwide service or it wont work in Florida

Paper Towels - we like to have some paper towels in our room for snack time. We buy them at the grocery store near WDW

Plastic silverware - spoons will be needed if you plan on eating cereal in the room. You can also get it at the hotels food court, though.

Proof of Auto Insurance - that way you wont have to get that extra insurance if you rent a car.

Rain Poncho - buy the $1 ponchos at Target / Walmart. They come in little zip log bags and fold out to full size ponchos. Get a color other than yellow because Disney sells Yellow ponchos and if you have another color, it will be easier to spot your group.

Sandals or some sort of shoes to wear in the water. The ground gets very hot by the pools in the summer.

Scissors - to remove tags from items you purchase that you might want to wear during your trip. Also good for cutting the moleskin (if you end up needing it)

Sensible shoes -- Comfy, well-broken in shoes are essential. This isn't the time to try a new pair of shoes. If you must get new shoes for your trip, be sure to break them in well before you depart for Florida. (Jennifer Watson)

Socks, Socks and More Socks - We found that changing our socks many times during the day made us feel fresher! That goes for underwear too, I suppose.

Stamps - for the postcards!

Stickers - to go over the automatic toilet flushing sensors - scares little children when it flushes and they are sitting there! thanks Suzanne!

Swim goggles - chlorine will sting your eyes and with the amounts of people in the pools, they use a lot of chlorine! Kids love wearing goggles!

Suitcase - Fill an extra suitcase with snacks! Then after you eat them all you can use the suitcase to bring home souvenirs.

Sunscreen - Sunny in Florida almost all year - protect your skin. And if you wear sandals don't forget to put sunscreen on your feet!

Sunglasses - the glare from the sun can really get to you after a few hours, so don't forget the sunglasses. I would buy some cheapo ones that you wont mind trashing - just in case.

Tickets -  Don't forget any tickets that you have gotten ahead of time!

Video Camera Supplies - extra batteries, tapes, and a bag to carry it in!

Wipes - even if you don't have a baby, these wipes come in handy. Use them to clean sticky hands, to clean off dirty benches before you sit down, etc.

Ziploc Bags - Many uses for these bags. I bring all sizes and keep at least one of each size in our backpack. Grab a washcloth out of your  hotel room and put it. This washcloth can be used to dry your face off if you get soaked on a ride or something. Or you can use it to cool off by getting it wet in a drinking fountain and wiping yourself, then store it in a zip lock bag. Keep your film and extra batteries in a smaller bag. Put a variety of medications in another. You get the idea!

I hope that this list has helped you decide what to pack! If you have items you would like to add to the list, just send them to me in email!
