Planning Your Trip The easiest way I can think of is to determine all the variables first.
After you answer these questions then the FUN part starts.. You need to remember that thousands of people are making these same plans - so planning early is a GREAT idea! If you are totally confused by all the information, or want MORE information, ordering a GUIDEBOOK may be a good idea for you. Check out the selection here on the GUIDEBOOK link to Amazon.com... WHEN? The heaviest crowds are on the major holidays, President's Week holiday, second and third weeks of April (due to Easter recess and spring break), and summer months (second week in June thru the third week in August). Moderate crowds will be founds the first 10 days of February, the entire months of March and May, and the first and last weeks of April Lightest crowds attend the second thru last week of January, September through mid-November, and the first through third weeks of December. WHERE? Now is the tough part, Where do you want to stay? Many people feel that you don't get the complete Disney experience unless you stay ON-SITE. This means within the WDW complex. All the resorts are Disney themed and transportation takes you freely between them all. Off-site you must 'leave' Disney and go to your hotel and then 'come back' the next day. There is a price to pay for staying on-site though, the prices are higher at the resorts on-site. But from what I have heard, it is well worth every penny. There are budget priced resorts on-site,that start at about $75 a night. The deluxe resorts (top end of the scale) ask up to $500 a night for their rooms. There are plenty of choices in-between. Check the resorts page for more information. HOW LONG? Now, how long would you like to stay? People say you cant see enough in under 7 days. You can stay as long as you like, though. Disney on-site resorts offer LOS (Length of Stay) passes which give you entrance in to any of the theme parks, including the water parks, Pleasure Island, etc., as soon as you check in until you check out! These seem to be a good deal. But if you plan on doing things other than disney stuff, like Universal Studios, Sea World, or other site seeing in the area, you will be wasting money! You will be paying for admission into those other theme parks, and not using that days tickets at WDW. Many people say that if they are planning to do other things (not just stay on-site) they buy hopper passes for the days that they will actually use them. Hopper passes give you the same privileges as the LOS passes, but are limited by the amount of days you purchase. Lets say you will be at the resort 8 days, but want to spend 2 days sight seeing around other parts of Florida, then you could buy a 6 day hopper pass, which is significantly cheaper than what you are charged for the 8 days LOS pass. Cast Members even say that they are not worth it unless you will be WDW park hopping the entire time you are there. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO? I just went over this, didn't I? Well, there's more to think about... There are many things to do besides go to the theme parks. There are 3 water parks on-site, Blizzard Beach (the gnarliest), Typhoon Lagoon, and River Country (the tamest). Disney Quest is a virtual reality type game area. You can design your own roller coaster, then try it out. Lost of great arcade games and much more! Pleasure Island is an adult oriented night time hot spot. They have comedy clubs, dance clubs, and more! The boardwalk area has little shops and stuff. There are pontoon boat rides you can reserve, bikes to rent, all sorts of fun awaits!
