Strollers

Strollers are very important if you have younger children. Most kids are not use to walking hours and hours. You can bring your own stroller from home, which definitely has its advantages over renting. Its suggested that you purchase a 'throw away' umbrella type stroller at Target or Walmart for $15 or so. If you lose it, no big loss. The advantages of bringing a stroller vs. renting are:

  1. 1. Your child will be more comfortable in the same stroller each day, not switching from different styles of strollers each park you visit.
  2. You will have access to the stroller even when you are at your departure airport, which will be a blessing! If you plan on renting a stroller at Disney World, and don't bring one with you, you will be carrying your child/children and your carry-on luggage, and jackets, and anything else you are bringing all around the airport. It is much easier to push a child in a stroller and hang some of the stuff on the stroller!
  3. You will have the stroller at your resort, depending on where you stay, you could be a long walk from the buses! In the morning it may not be a big deal to carry your child to the bus stop, but believe me, at the end of the day, that extra 20lbs. will feel like 100lbs!
  4. Umbrella type strollers are easy to fold up to fit on disney transportation!
  5. When you get off a ride or attraction, you will look out and see a SEA of Disney strollers, when yours is different, its easier to find!
  6. It will save you the money that you would spend on renting a stroller.

Many people do opt to rent a stroller at the parks. The fees to rent one are $7 per day, with a $1 refundable deposit. Double strollers are also available, the fee for the double strollers are $12 per day, with the same $1 deposit. This is a daily charge, so you can rent the stroller in one park, turn it back in, and then go to another park. You show them your receipt and they don't charge you again. Strollers are available near the entrance to each of the parks. There is an ample supply, so don't worry if you arrive late in the day.  If you choose to rent a stroller, there are advantages to that, too!

  1. You don't have to worry about the stroller as much as if it was your personal property. If someone happens to 'borrow' your stroller, you can just get another one.
  2. When you are ready to leave the park, you can just leave the stroller wherever you end up (you wont get your deposit back, but its only $1)
  3. You can start the day without a stroller, and as your child tires you can rent one.

Remember: Never leave any personal belongings in the stroller when you park it outside an attraction. You never know who may pass by and decide to help themselves to your items.

  • VIDEO ARCADES

There are video arcades at all resorts as well as the Light and Power arcade in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. There are also playgrounds at all resorts

Three water parks: Blizzard Beach, the most challenging (recommended that everyone be a pretty good swimmer to go on most of the slides). Typhoon Lagoon is still pretty intense but tamer than Blizzard Beach. River Country is the oldest of the 3 parks and offers the most to families with small children. There are kiddie areas in all three water parks. Life jackets are available at each of the parks, as are towel and lockers (rentals). You will need some sort of water shoes, the ground gets very hot! You are allowed to bring coolers into the parks, so pack a lunch and save some money. No glass is allowed in, though! One thing everyone has told me, it rains almost daily during the summer months (brief showers) and due to the danger of lightning everyone will be asked to get out of the water until it is safe. Everyone says DO NOT LEAVE. Most people will, and as soon as the rain stops you will have the place to yourself. Admission to these parks is included in Hopper Passes and LOS passes.
